Subject: Sex Offenders Living Close To Schools

I am appalled by your story regarding ex-offenders living near schools. So what? Your story gives no basis for this concern. It doesn't mention any instances of ex-offenders on the registry who live near schools having harmed any children at school. You so called journalists are always running inflammatory stories about ex-offenders who have done their time, paid the price, and are living productive, law-abiding lives as though they are ticking time-bombs ready to go off.

Where are the rest of the facts. Where are the stories about the fact that roughly 90% of all sex crimes are committed by people known to the victims, not by strangers who are on the registry? Where are the stories about how ex-offenders with records of sex crimes have the second lowest rates of recidivism of all ex-felons--second only to murderers? Why is this group of ex-offenders picked on mercilessly, when citizens stand a much greater risk of being harmed in some way by ex-felons of other types or people who don't even have a criminal record, yet?

C'mon! Tell the truth! Quit picking on people who are unlikely to hurt anyone and are simply trying to rebuild their lives. Shame on you for going for easy ratings during a sweeps month like this! Start telling the true story!

There’s a loophole in the law that some citizens and elected officials want changed. That’s news.

Ps…Have the courage to leave your name

Have the "courage" to leave my name? You're kidding, right? So you can show up at my door with a news crew and harass me for voicing my opinion about your "news" story?

Your "loophole" is only part of the story. I'm waiting for the rest of the facts in this situation. The facts are that there's no real threat, here. If you think fanning the flames for no good purpose is good journalism, then you're in the wrong line of work. Show us the facts that this "loophole" is in any way endangering children, because it isn't. That's news!
