Colorado Animal Abuse Registry Would Require Convicted Abusers To Register In Database Similar To Sex Offenders

For those who see no problems with the unconstitutional sex offender registries, here is further proof that sex offender registries were just the beginning.  Just as in the early days of Nazi Germany, the government is seeking to seize control over every aspect of society.  Just as in the early days of Nazi Germany, they start with the most hated members of society, and then expand from there.  How long before all of us find ourselves on some sort of registry being told where we can live, work, frequent, and even worship?

You really think it's that simple, don't you? What happens when they pass a law against something you hold dear? Can't happen? It has happened throughout history.

Don't want to be on a list, just obey the law, eh? Check this story out: http://nebraska-rso-newsline.newsvine.com/_news/2012/02/04/10319747-abc-24-reporter-mistakenly-listed-as-possible-sex-offender-memphis-breaking-news-weather-amp-sports-wpty-tv-abc24-abc24com

I feel peoples right to know if they have someone who could be a danger to their family, kids, pets and property living nearby outweighs the right of the offender to keep their crimes private

Exactly. Besides ALL crimes are public record so why is it such a big deal to have an easy way to access the records? The thing some people do not get is that when you break the LAW you lose some (not all) of your rights i.e. your right to have your crimes kept private.

You have a greater chance of being endangered by someone who has no criminal record than anyone on the registry. The registry keeps no one safe. It simply squanders millions of dollars in each state, and make the politicians look as though they are being tough on crime. Wake up, people! They are lying to you!

Yeah people know to watch their backs around those on the registry plus I'm sure the offenders know the neighbors are onto them if they are in the registry thus making it harder. Of course we are always going to have new criminals but lets get em onto the registry once they do become offenders and like you said it will decrease the likely hood of them re-offending.

Ex-offenders with records of sex crimes have the second lowest instance of re-offense of all ex-offenders. While you are watching your back for these people, who are unlikely to cause you any harm, a teacher at your school may be doing something, a member of the clergy or a coach, or even a member of your own family or close circle of family and friends. This is the group responsible for roughly 90% of all cases.

When is this country going to wake up and remove the blinders and quit looking in the wrong places for harm?

I say watch your back for them ALL. The more knowledge the better. The more tools to point out those who have already proven themselves dangers to society can only be a good thing
